Sound Setup

  • Arrive with the set-up crew so that you can practice with the band – typically greater than 45 minutes before the first congregational activities
  • Roll cart to the back of the room; this is often completed before we arrive
  • Make sure that the cart does not block the view from the audience to the slide projection table
  • Remove the lid from the cart
  • Before Plugging In Any Cables: Ensure that the amplifier switch in the amplifier closet is OFF
  • Plugin the audio black snake
  • Plugin the power extension cable
  • Plugin the light controller cable
  • Place the traffic cone to stop people from tripping on the snake
  • Lift computer monitor
  • Put monitor pad into the cart
  • Turn on the power strip
  • Make sure that the following turn on
    • Sound console
    • All three Audio-Technica wireless receivers (dbx feedback suppressor – we aren’t using this equipment currently)
    • The computer monitor and computer will turn on
  • Start Audacity recording software to record the Discipleship Hour
  • Turn on the secret switch in the amplifier closet to turn on the amplifier rack
  • Turn on the transmitters for the head-worn mic, lapel mic, and handheld mic
  • After 5 minutes, check the battery levels on the transmitters – note that they may give a false, “full” reading for the first couple of minutes. If you’re not sure, it’s better to use fresh batteries than to have an interrupted service
  • If any of the packs show less than four bars, replace the batteries in all of them.
  • If requested for communion, check the iPod’s charge by playing a song – plug it into the charger, if necessary
  • When the band starts, check the monitors for proper operation
